WWF, planet’s leading conservation organization has a global network active in more than 100 countries. As part of the WWF Greater Mekong Program (GMP), WWF-Cambodia manages a wide array of conservation projects and is currently implementing a campaign titled Earth Hour (EH), global light-switch-off to highlight momentous action for earth.
Position: Volunteer Earth Hour
Job Location: Phnom Penh
With the aim to raise public awareness about climate change, Earth Hour 2012 in Cambodia will encourage support and participation of individuals, businesses, communities and Government’s agencies to join the world in turning-out light for one hour on Saturday 31st March, 2012 at 8:30 PM to show their support for environmentally sustainable action. WWF is seeking two well-qualified and committed volunteers to work full-time for a period of 2 months (mid Feb-mid Apr 2012) under guidance of the communications department. Embrace your chance to be part of the world’s biggest environmental campaign – Earth Hour. Based in Phnom Penh, the incumbents will undertake the following duties:
- Design and implement corporate engagement approaches to successfully gain participation in celebrating EH 2012 and agreement on WWF’s EH guidelines.
- Plan and undertake necessary activities leading-up to achieving support and/or participation in EH 2012 from well-known businesses in Phnom Penh, as well as from owners of other shopping centres, apartments, hotels, restaurants, banks and other corporate groups.
- Conduct researches on corporate and community groups and identify potentials for taking part in EH 2012 as event organisers, sponsors or in-kind supporters.
- Study background about EH, especially its history, past years’ activities and participations, current campaign theme and messaging.
- Support and/or advise on preparations and organisations of events for EH 2012 by companies, private groups, individuals, families and government agencies.
- Monitor works and activities carried out as part of the campaign programme and provide regular updates and final report.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- University students or graduates in marketing, English, or communications
- Able to work full time within 2 months
- Proven with strong engagement, marketing or public relation skills
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Skilful in Ms Office program
- Committed, hardworking and creative
